Sadly I can identify wih many of the barriers that Linda mentions. These are the reasons why I am now EPing. If more midwives in the hospital knew how to support breastfeeding mums I might not be spending 3-4 hours per day attached to a breast pump and instead spend that time feeding and bonding with my son.

Oh that’s exactly what happened to me. The hospital staff looked at me like I was crazy when I said no bottle or paci. Then, he was away from me quite a bit on day three getting checked and his circ, so when he turned up a little jaundiced the hosp Pediatician insisted that I supplement. And so nipple confusion set in. She said, “I’d like to sign these discharge papers but I need to certain you’re going to supplement at home.” He’s 5 mos now and my second baby is a breast pump.
