U.S. Health Care Reform and Pumping in the Workplace

As a Canadian, I am grateful for the fact that Canada has a one year paid maternity leave.  But as many of the visitors to this site are Americans, I thought it was important to pass along information about the recent U.S. Health Care Reform and its support for working mothers who are breastfeeding and pumping.  The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act provides “reasonable break time for nursing mothers”.  This is a great step forward, but only if everyone knows about it!  So here is my effort to share this information with those of you living in the United States.  To read information about Health Care Reform and how it impacts breastfeeding and pumping mothers who must pump at work, please visit the United States Breastfeeding Committee website where they have outlined this new law that may assist you in providing milk for your baby.
