Moms Speak About the Emotions of Breastfeeding Loss and Moving Forward to a New Experience
March 7, 2014
Just over a year ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing a number of women about their breastfeeding experiences. All had experienced challenges and in the end did not meet their personal breastfeeding goals. They share their experience in a moving, open, and honest way. I think their experiences–and their honesty–can be helpful to many other mothers and equally as important to those who work with new mothers. Here are the four videos created from those interviews. They are discussing expectations for breastfeeding, the emotions of breastfeeding “failure”, moving forward to a new breastfeeding relationship, and ideas for supporting new mothers. The interviews were done in conjunction with my other book Breastfeeding, Take Two, but I think they speak just as well to the experiences of many exclusively pumping moms.
